Glost firing is the final stage in the process of pottery production, during which the glaze is melted, and the decorations are fused. Glost firing can be preceded by biscuit firing, but does not necessarily have to be, particularly in earthenware such as Heimberg-type pottery. In faience production and other high-fire glazes, the firing process is also called “grand feu”.
