Decoration denotes all methods of changing (adorning) the surface of a leather-hard, slipped, bisque- or glost-fired ceramic object by adding slip, glaze, painting or any other type of adornment, e.g.: overglaze painted decoration, applied decoration, combed decoration, dendritic decoration, geometrical decoration, speckled decoration, burnishing, in-glaze painted decoration, poured slip decoration, slip trailing, marbling, applied plastic decoration, incised decoration, rouletting, salt-glaze, stencilled decoration, sponged decoration, stamped decoration, chattering, splashed decoration and underglaze brushwork decoration.
