The history of the potters’ workshop in Gwatt has not yet been studied in detail. Despite sharing the name, the Lanz pottery in Gwatt and the potters’ workshop of the Lanz brothers in Thun were not connected.
1938 Willy Lanz (1895-1969) sets up a potter’s workshop at 41 Spiezstrasse in Gwatt (Thuner Tagblatt, 12th September 1988).
1964 Peter Lanz takes over his father Willy’s workshop; the business employs five people (Thuner Tagblatt, 12th September 1988; SOGC 82, 1964, 1886)
1988 Peter Lanz now works with his wife Dora and son Theophil (Thuner Tagblatt, 12th September 1988).
2004 Theophil Niederhauser, an apprentice of Peter Lanz, takes over the business.
